Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken at northwestern Manne Island, Kavieng District, at 3–12 m depth, St. KR 14, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken at Nubilus Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–32 m depth, St. KR 88, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Christmas Island east to Pohnpei and Papua New Guinea, south to northern Australia. Found seaward coral reef slopes, 10–48 m depth. Marine.
