Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken at Anelaua Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–16 m depth, St. KR 98, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken in Albatross Passage, southwestern Kavieng District, 3–13 m depth, St. KD 83, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Philippines and Papua New Guinea. Found in fringing reefs and offshore patch reefs, 2–14 m depth. Marine.
