Anampses neoguinaicus Bleeker 1877 —New Guinea wrasse

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken at Echuca Shoal, New Hanover, 15–34 m depth, St. KR 158, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken in Albatross Passage, southwestern Kavieng District, at 3–13 m depth, St. KR 53, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Palau and Fiji, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Solitary on coral-rich seaward reef slopes, 4–30 m depth. Marine.
