Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken on north coast of Manne Island, Kavieng District at 1–11 m depth, St. KR 36, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken at Anelaua Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–16 m depth, St. KR 98, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Philippines and Papua New Guinea, south to Australia and to Solomon Islands. Forming aggregations above silty bottom of lagoon and inshore reefs, 5–12 m depth. Marine.

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen in a video of a specimen taken at Manne Island, Kavieng District, 3–25 m depth, St. KR 42, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken at Anelaua Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–16 m depth, St. KR 98, in 2014.
