Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at St. KVG24 (off northwestern Bauddisson Island) by Serge Andréfouët on 22 Aug. 2014; a video of a specimen taken at Alexander Passage, off southeastern New Hanover, at 5–14 m depth, St. KR 96, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Palau and Vanuatu, north to Taiwan and Yaeyama Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Rocky reef and gravel habitats in seaward reef habitats, 1–12 m depth. Marine.
