Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen observed at Bauddisson Island, Kavieng District, 1–19 m depth, St. T 5, on 31 Oct. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen; also at Balang Island, New Hanover, 0–18 m depth, St. T 21, on 6 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Cocos-Keeling and Christmas islands east to Line Islands and Tuamotu islands, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on sand-rubble bottoms with isolated coral heads, 1–18 m depth. Marine.
