Halichoeres prosopeion (Bleeker 1853) —Twotone wrasse
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed on 3 and 5 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District, another at St. KVG 17 on the Bismarck Sea side of northern Kavieng District by Serge Andréfouët on 18 Aug. 2014; a video of a specimen taken at northwestern Manne Island, Kavieng District, at 3–12 m depth, St. KR 14, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Central Indonesia east to Philippines and Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Solitary or in groups, in coral-rich areas of patch reefs, lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 2–40 m depth. Marine.
