Choerodon anchorago (Bloch 1791) —Anchor tuskfish
Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Hanover as Choerops anchorago by Peters (1877: 843). Specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005, and by Barry C. Russell during 7–28 June 2014.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Yap (Caroline Islands), Palau and New Guinea, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Solitary, in seagrass, sand and rubble areas near sheltered coral reefs, 1–25 m depth. Marine.
