Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken at northwestern Manne Island, Kavieng District, at 3–12 m depth, St. KR14, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); a specimen observed at Balang Island, New Hanover, 0–18 m depth, St. T21, on 6 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Eastern Indonesia east to Palau and Solomon Islands, north to Yaeyama Islands, south to northwestern Australia. Found on silty coastal reefs, 1–15 m depth. Marine.
