Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken off northern Kavieng District, at 6–22 m depth, St. KR166, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Micronesia and Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on sand-rubble bottoms near reefs, 10–40 m depth. Marine.
