Halichoeres chloropterus (Bloch 1791) —Pastel-green wrasse

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at St. KVG19 (Bagail Bay, Kavieng District) by Serge Andréfouët on 19 Aug. 2014; a video of a specimen taken from Senta Passage, off eastern New Hanover, 5–16 m depth, at St. KR 118, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea east to Philippines and Solomon Islands, south to Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Found on silty reefs, 1–10 m depth. Marine.
