Status at New Ireland. Record from New Ireland based on a video of a specimen taken in Albatross Passage, southwestern Kavieng District, at 3–13 m depth, St. KD83, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Samoa, north to Philippines and Micronesia, south to Great Barrier Reef (Queensland, Australia) and New Caledonia. Found among branching hard corals, soft corals and seagrass, 2–67 m depth. Marine.
