Thalassoma nigrofasciatum Randall 2003 —Blackbar wrasse

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed on 5 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District, and another at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District at 16 m depth by Dean Tully on 7 July 2011; a video of a specimen taken at Anelaua Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–16 m depth, St. KR 98, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Queensland (Australia) and eastern New Guinea east to Fiji and Niue, south to Kermadec Islands. Found in groups in coastal, lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 0–10 m depth. Marine.
