Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed on 3 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District; others at St. KVG 17 on the Bismarck Sea side of northern Kavieng District by Serge Andréfouët on 18 Aug. 2014 , and at St. KVG25 (off southeastern New Hanover) by Serge Andréfouët on 22 Aug. 2014 .
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Caroline and Line islands and Tonga, north to southern Japan, south to northern New Zealand. Found in coastal and seaward coral reefs, 0–20 m depth. Marine.
