Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen in a video of a specimen taken east of Nago Island, Kavieng District, at 2–9 m depth, St. KR28, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East Africa, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to Philippines, north to Taiwan, southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to Queensland (Australia). Found on sand bottoms, 4–30 m depth. Marine.
