Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at St. KVG24 (off northwestern Bauddisson Island, Kavieng District) by Serge Andréfouët on 22 Aug. 2014.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Papua New Guinea, Great Barrier Reef, New Caledonia and east to Tonga and Samoa. Solitary or in pairs, on in coral-rich areas of lagoons, passes and seaward coral reefs, 2–54 m depth. Marine.
