Oxycheilinus celebicus (Bleeker 1853) — Celebes wrasse
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005; a video of a specimen taken from Tungelo Island, off southeastern New Hanover, 3–45 m depth, at St. KR 106, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Eastern Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Marshall Islands and New Guinea, north to southern Japan, south to northwestern Australia and New Caledonia. Solitary, in coastal or lagoon reefs, 3–40 m depth. Marine.
