Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Melo (2017 [2016]: 794 [9]), based on specimens collected south of New Hanover and southeast of New Ireland. MCZ material.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2, 3.—General distribution: Nearly circumglobal in tropical and warm temperate seas, except for eastern Pacific. 0–2100 m depth. Marine.
