Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Allen & Erdmann (2012: 755). A specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District at 8 m depth by Dean Tully on 22 Sept. 2012. NTUM 11237 (1 specimen, 47.8 mm SL, St. CP 4458-1, 11.0 km west of Kavieng, 2°33.33’S 150°41.45’E– 2°33.32’S 150°43.18’E, 180–181 m depth, R/ V Alis, 30 Apr. 2014); a video of a specimen taken from Senta Passage, off eastern New Hanover, 5–16 m depth, at St. KR 118, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Philippines and Solomon Islands, south to Lord Howe Island. Found on sand bottoms near reefs, 5–35 m depth. Marine.
