Acanthaphritis unoorum Suzuki & Nakabo 1996 —Uno’s duckbill (Fig. 117)
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 12274 (1 specimen, 56.7 mm SL, St. CP 4254-17, northwest of Kavieng), NTUM 11073 (2 specimens, 55.2–55.4 mm SL, St. CP 4419-8-9, northeast of New Hanover), and NTUM 11264 (2 specimens, 35.2–50.4 mm SL, St. CP 4464-5 and CP4464-10, southeast of Bauddisson Island).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Philippines to Papua New Guinea (Morobe, New Britain). Found on soft bottoms of the continental slope, 82–398 m depth. Marine.
Remarks. This species was recently recorded from Morobe and New Britain, Papua New Guinea by Fricke (2015: 4).
Another specimen was collected northwest of Bougainville Island, NTUM 11013 (1 male, 91.7 mm SL, St.
CP4421-26, 5°43’S 154°03’E, 398–406 m depth, R/ V Alis, 28 Apr. 2014); this represents a new record for Bougainville, and a new depth record, as the species was previously only known down to a depth of 280 m
