Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District, 3– 8 m depth, by Dean Tully on 6 July 2011 and 17 Sept. 2012; a specimen observed at Balang Island, New Hanover, 0–18 m depth, St. T 21, on 6 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Sabah (Malaysia) and central Indonesia east to Palau, Yap and Solomon Islands. Solitary, on coral outcrops of sheltered coral reefs, 0–8 m depth. Marine.
