Status at New Ireland. Reported from Nusa Island, Kavieng, New Ireland by Springer (1988: 111), based on USNM 217563 (1). NTUM material. Specimens photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 20 Feb. 2010. A specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District, 5 m depth, by Dean Tully on 6 July 2011 ; others photographed at St. KVG25 (off southeastern New Hanover) by Serge Andréfouët on 22 Aug. 2014 .

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Admirality Islands and New Britain (Papua New Guinea) to New Georgia (Solomon Islands). Found in sheltered lagoon reefs, 1–10 m depth. Marine.
