Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 19 Feb. 2010; a video of a specimen taken at Kawauiliaka Island, off northeastern New Hanover, at 3–12 m depth, St. KR 132, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Marshall Islands and Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Found in seagrass habitats, 1–5 m depth. Marine.
