Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at St. KVG5 (south of Kavieng, Kavieng District) by Serge Andréfouët on 13 Aug. 2014; a video of a specimen taken in Senta Passage, southeast of New Hanover at 5–16 m depth, St. KR 118, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Bali (Indonesia) east to Marshall Islands and Papua New Guinea. Found on sand slopes of lagoon and seaward reefs, associated with an alpheid shrimp, 12– 25 m depth. Marine.
