Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken on north coast of Manne Island, Kavieng District at 1–11 m depth, St. KR 36, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken in Senta Passage, southeast of New Hanover at 5–16 m depth, St. KR 118, in 2014.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Marshall Islands and Papua New Guinea, north to Ryukyu Islands. Found on sand bottoms of lagoon and seaward reefs, associated with an alpheid shrimp, 3–35 m depth. Marine.
