Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District by Dietmar Amon on 10 May 2009, and at 4 m depth by Dean Tully on 22 Sept. 2012 .
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa, Madagascar and Mascarenes east to Indonesia and New Guinea, south to Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Found on sand near patch reefs, in burrows with alpheid shrimps, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
