Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District, 7 m depth, by Dean Tully on 6 July 2011.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Fiji and Marshall Islands, south to northern Australia and Solomon Islands. Found on sand bottoms in lagoons or near sheltered coastal reefs, associated with alpheid shrimps, 1–15 m depth. Marine.
