Status at New Ireland. New record based on a video of a specimen taken at Anelaua Island, off eastern New Hanover, 4–12 m depth, St. KR 130, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); a specimen observed at Limmelon Island, Kavieng District, 1–14 m depth, St. T 3, on 30 Oct. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea east to Solomon Islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on sand bottoms of sheltered reefs, associated with alpheid shrimps, 2–10 m depth. Marine.
