Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 8 Jan. 2010.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Palau and New Guinea, north to Yaeyama Islands, south to Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Found on sheltered sand bottoms including seagrass habitats, 0–20 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
