Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 1 June 2007.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Chagos Archipelago east to Line Islands and Samoa, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Commensal on gorgonian fans and whips, 6–45 m depth. Marine.
