Status at New Ireland. First record from New Ireland by Jewett & Lachner (1983: 794), based on USNM 224544 (1 paratype). NTUM 11484 (2 specimens, St. KB 28, 11 June 2014).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Eastern Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Caroline Islands and Fiji, north to Philippines, south to New Caledonia. Solitary on coral, rubble and algae, 0–29 m depth. Marine.
