Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen observed at Limmelon Island, Kavieng District, 1–14 m depth, St. T 3, on 30 Oct. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen; also at Balang Island, New Hanover, 1–18 m depth, St. T 21, on 6 Nov. 2006 .

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Seychelles east to Philippines and Solomon Islands, north to southern Japan. Found on rubble bottoms with dead corals, and on inshore reefs, 0–3 m depth. Transitional water, marine.
