Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen observed in Lissenung Island, Kavieng District, 1–10 m depth, St. T 6, on 31 Oct. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: South and East Africa, Seychelles, Comores and Mauritius (Mascarenes) east to Hawaiian Islands and Marquesas Islands, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to Lord Howe Island, New Caledonia and Tonga. Found on sand-rubble bottoms near reefs, 1–46 m depth. Marine.
