Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Marshall, Marquesas and Society islands, south to Queensland (Australia). Found on sand or coral rubble bottom of lagoons or sheltered reefs, 2–20 m depth. Marine.
