Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken off northern Kavieng District, at 6–22 m depth, St. KR 166, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); a specimen observed at Balang Island, New Hanover, 0–18 m depth, St. T 21, on 6 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia to Philippines and Papua New Guinea. Found near sheltered inshore and lagoon reefs, 2–10 m depth. Marine.
