Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed in 2012 at New Hanover by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: Oman and Seychelles east to Society Islands, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Found in outer reef lagoons and on seaward reef slopes, 6–50 m depth. Marine.
