Sicyopus discordipinnis Watson 1995 — Papua freshwater goby

Status at New Ireland. Originally described from Namamosa, New Hanover by Watson (1995: 273), based on NMBA 5075 (1 paratype); previously misidentified as Sicyopus balinense (non Bleeker 1856) by Koumans (1937: 24); record confirmed by Keith et al. (2015: 144–145).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: Endemic to Papua New Guinea (main island, New Hanover, Bougainville). Found in lower reaches of clear coastal creeks and streams; larvae in adjacent marine habitats, 0–5 m depth. Freshwater, transitional water and marine.
