Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Kavieng, New Ireland by Watson (1996: 122); record confused with S. rutilaureus (non Watson 1996) by Keith et al. (2015: 230–232). WAM material.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Sumatra (Indonesia) east to Vanuatu, north to Halmahera (Indonesia), south to New Caledonia. Adults found in small coastal streams, while larvae live in coastal marine waters, 0–5 m depth. Freshwater, transitional water and marine.
