Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken near Wadei Island, Kavieng District at 11–15 m depth, St. KR72, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Philippines and Papua New Guinea, north to Taiwan, south to northern Australia. Found on fine sand bottom near coastal reefs, usually in pairs, 1–30 m depth. Marine.
