Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken at Kawauiliaka Island, off northeastern New Hanover, at 3–12 m depth, St. KR132, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Yap, Fiji and Tonga, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on sand bottom of lagoons and bays, 1– 4 m depth. Marine.
