Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District at 20 m depth by Dean Tully on 28 June 2013); a video of a specimen taken at Martha's Shoal, east of New Hanover, St. KR 154, at 6–20 m depth, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Eastern Indonesia east to Society, Tuamotu and Pitcairn islands. Found on slopes of seaward coral reefs, 20–90 m depth. Marine.
