Siganus corallinus (Valenciennes in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1835) —Coral rabbitfish
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005, and by Barry C. Russell on 28 June 2014; a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District at 16 m depth by Dean Tully on 8 July 2011; a video of a specimen taken off southern New Hanover at 4–51 m depth, St. KR 110, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Seychelles and Maldives east to Philippines and Vanuatu, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Adults occurring in pairs in coral-rich areas of coral reefs, juveniles in seagrass habitats, 1–30 m depth. Marine.
