Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken at Anelaua Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–16 m depth, St. KR98, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken in Albatross Passage, southwestern Kavieng District, at 3–13 m depth, St. KD83, in 2014.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Hawaiian Islands, Marquesas Islands and Tuamotu Archipelago, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia. Found in coastal, lagoon and seaward reefs, 0–104 m depth. Marine.
