Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 15 June 2008.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East and South Africa east to Micronesia and Samoa, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to northern Australia. Found in coastal and seaward reefs, 2–25 m depth. Marine.
