Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 8 Sept. 2010.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: East Africa, Madagascar and western Mascarenes east to Tonga, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on sand and mud bottoms of lagoon and seaward reefs, 1–40 m depth. Marine.
