Acreichthys tomentosus (Linnaeus 1758) —Seagrass filefish (Fig. 166)
Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11420 (1 specimen, 13.1 mm SL, St. KD 16, north of Manne Island, Kavieng District, 02°42.068’S 150°39.433’E, 6–10 m depth, 11 June 2014). Specimens photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 11 Oct. 2007, and at 2 m depth by Dean Tully on 7 July 2011 .
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Sri Lanka east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Solitary, among seagrass or in sheltered coral reefs, 0–15 m depth. Marine.
