Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District by Dietmar Amon on 15 Oct. 2007.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Palau, Fiji and Tonga, north to Philippines, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in seaward coral reefs, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
