Capitonius seltmannae Pitz n. sp.

(Figs. 27, 28 A–G)

Diagnosis: Distinguishable from other species in the subgenus by having the pronotum testaceous.

Length: 7.5 mm.

Color: body melanic except: fore tibia, fore tarsus, thorax except propleuron and anterior half of pronotum, first median and lateral metasomal tergite, lateral portion of seventh median metasomal tergite rufous; wings slightly infuscate (Fig. 28 G).

Head (Fig. 28 A–C): antenna with 36 flagellomeres, each with 2–4 rows of longitudinal placodes; vertex with sparse and weak punctures and weak setation laterally; occipital carina with evenly spaced setae over its entirety; lateral carina bordering antennal scrobe incomplete; median lamella of antennal scrobe flattened anteriorly, acute posteriorly; face and clypeus with dense punctures; ventral margin of clypeus with three blunt tubercles.

Mesosoma (Fig. 28 D–E): anterior margin of pronotum protruding posteriorly as curl of cuticle; pronotum weakly rugosopunctate anteriorly, with moderate punctation and setae posteriorly, with depression along entire dorsal margin with numerous longitudinal carinae creating large fovea; anterior face of mesoscutum smooth; median lobe of mesoscutum triangular; mesoscutum smooth with sparse setae, anterior margin of median lobe carinate laterally and smooth medianly, lateral lobe smooth with sparse setae; notauli meeting in anterior half of mesoscutum, with transverse carinae that create large oval and rectangular fovea; transscutal articulation not grooved; scutellar disc smooth with moderately dense long setae; scutellar sulcus with 7 fovea; propleuron with moderate punctation and setae ventrally; mesopleuron with carinae running perpendicular to dorsal half of epicnemial area, with pleural sulcus mostly smooth, otherwise mesopleuron smooth, with moderate setae ventrally and anteriorly, otherwise with sparse setae; sternaulus complete, restricted to single row of ovoid fovea; propodeum irregularly areolate, with moderately dense setae; metapleuron smooth with shallow fovea dorsally and irregularly areolate ventrally with sparse to moderate setae; hind coxa lacking distinct groove or depression on median face; tarsal claw with basal lobe absent.

Metasoma (Fig. 28 F): t1 smooth; t4–t7 lacking dense, small pits posteroventrally near spiracles; first valvula of ovipositor with serrations apically; second valvula lacking subapical serration; ratio of length:width of t1 2.1; ratio of ovipositor:forewing 1.4; ratio of M+CU:1M vein of hind wing 2.2.

Variation: antenna with 34–37 flagellomeres.

Biology: unknown.

Male: unknown.
