Distribution. Western Atlantic— Brazil (São Paulo) (Nucci & Hebling 2004).

Remarks. As far as we know, the only available material of P. meloi is the type series from Santos, São Paulo (♂, MZUSP 16246 - holotype, Santos, off coast, 350–400 m deep, coll. C. Cunha, iv.2002; 2 ♂, MZUSP 16247 - paratype, same data as holotype). Sequence accession number (GenBank): MZUSP 16247—16S (MT835465).
