Pelocoris politus Montandon, 1895: 8–9 (original description)

Diagnosis: Body length 8.0– 8.7 mm; abdominal tergum IV with posterolateral corner spinose and produced posteriorly (Fig. 5); male abdominal tergum VII with posterior margin straight (Fig. 7E); lateral margins of phallosoma with two distinct grooves (Fig. 7K) (Nieser & Melo 1997); female subgenital plate with posterior margin sharply incised at midline, forming two rounded lobes (Fig. 9E) (Nieser 1975; Rodrigues et al., unpublished data); female abdominal tergum VIII narrowly rounded apically (Fig. 10E); valvulae 2 dentate along lateral margins (Fig. 11E); distal portion of metapleura narrowly rounded and produced posteriorly (Fig. 12C).

Comments: This species shares some morphological characteristics with P. bipunctulus and P. subflavus, including the third abdominal sternum with a robust, spiniform median carina produced posteriorly (Figs. 8B, D).
